VIEWS OF PARTIES
AND OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES TO BE PLACED BEFORE TROOPS OVERSEAS. PRIME MINISTER'S ASSURANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government is at present considering the whole matter of placing the political views of all parties fully before the troops overseas, said the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) in the House of Representatives this morning, replying to an urgent question by Mr Atmore, on behalf of himself and the member for Napier (Mr Barnard). The question was as to what extent the “literature” of Independents, asi well as party candidates, could be 1 made available for the information of the Armed Forces overseas before polling day. Mr Fraser said he had already consulted the Leader of the Opposition on the matter. There were many difficul - ties and all parties must be prepared to bow to those difficulties equally. No doubt use could be made of the “N.Z.E.F. Times,” in the Middle East, and of the N.Z.E.F. paper in the. Pacific, to publish the views of the respective parties and also those of Independents. He would be prepared to discuss with all sections the fairest means of doing the job and would be glad to have their help. He also mentioned that there were New Zealanders on active service all over the world to be catered for and said the electoral officers were anxious to meet the situation.
