Maximum prices for furniture sold by Australian manufacturers have been fixed, and retail margins will be announced soon. Furniture manufacture will bo restricted to essential types for domestic requirements. The production of luxury furniture has been prohibited in Australia for the duration of the war.
It is estimated that a couple selling tip house tinder the now prices will be able to purchase the best available range of furniture for their home for about £BO, phis a retail margin when it is determined. The cheapest range of furniture, covering all the normal needs of a house for two. will cost about £67, plus the retailer's profit margin.
