ANOTHER EFFORT
AGAINST YUGOSLAV GUERILLAS PLANNED BY GERMANS. FAILURE OF FIVE EARLIER CAMPAIGNS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Lay, 10.55 a.m.j RUGBY, July 29. The Germans are preparing to launch a sixth campaign to mop up the Yugaslav guerillas, reports the Inter-Allied Information Committee in London. Five previous campaigns have left strong forces of guerillas intact, despite the use by the Germans of dive-bombers and armoured fighting vehicles, and these guerillas are concentrating on disrupting road and rail communications. From June 25 to July 2, the guerillas attacked the Zagreb to Belgrade railway daily. German forces are now concentrating artillery, planes and armoured fighting vehicles in Eastern Bosnia. Fighting is now centred on the River Drina, between Serbia and Bosnia, on the Bosnia side. It is particularly heavy in the vicinity of Zvornil, but heavy fighting also continues further west, in the Zavidovic area, on the Sarajevo to Brod railway line, where Slovene guerillas are operating. The Germans have evacuated Prnjevor, in Central Bosnia, and the guerillas taken over the place. Prnjavor is amongst the mountains, in a coal and iron district, and controls a road junction. The Germans announce r. reward of 100,000 marks for information leading to the capture, dead or alive, of the guerilla leader.
