NATIONAL PARTY

MR GORDON RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT. INTEREST IN COMING ELECTION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The annual conference of the New Zealand National Party concluded in Wellington yesterday. Mr Alex Gordon, Hamilton, was re-elected president. The following additional officers were also appointed:—Vice-presi-dents, Messrs H. C. Savage (Auckland), W. A. Clark (South Auckland), W. A. Veitch (Wellington), G. H. Grigg (Canterbury), G. W. Lane (OtagoSouthland); women vice-presidents, Dr Hilda Northcroft (Auckland), Mrs Stewart (Southland). An address was made to the conference by Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., leader of the party, and several other addresses were also given.

Speaking yesterday at the conclusion of the conference, the president, Mr Gordon, said the delegates had shown great interest in the forthcoming election campaign and there was no doubt that the same spirit would be' displayed through the various electorates. The party was united solidly behind its leader and would submit to the electors a sound, progressive and imaginative policy. An excellent type of candidate had come forward, with much new blood, including several returned soldiers of the present war, whose interest in political problems reflected the mood of the times.
