CRIPPLED CHILDREN

WAIRARAPA SOCIETY’S AFFAIRS. TRAVELLING CLINIC TO VISIT DISTRICT. A meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Crippled Children Society was held yesterday afternoon, the chairman, Mr E. M. Hodder, presiding. Twelve new members were elected, and several Women s Institutes of the South Wairarapa, in applying for membership, forwarded good wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the society. Official advice was received from Wellington that another travelling orthopaedic clinic would be in the Wairarapa on Monday and Tuesday, August 16 and 17, when Dr. Walter Robertson, the well known orthopaedic specialist, would examine over 30 special cases from this district. Accounts amounting to £36 Is lid were passed for payment. Two new cases were registered during the month. It was resolved to give financial assistance in five cases, one for secondary education, one for the purchase of clothes, one for surgical treatment, and two for speech training. The chairman was authorised in. a further case to make additional inquiries in respect to an application for assistance.

The thanks of the executive were extended to Messrs P. F. Fagan and J. W. T. Jones, headmaster of Lansdowne School, both of whom had rendered substantial .assistance to the society over a period of years.
