OPERATIONS OF SUBMARINE COMMANDOS.
ALLEGED SUCCESSES
<By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 26. Germany now claims to have what the High Command describes as “submarine commandos." The Stockholm correspondent of the -Daily Expressreports the German naval authorities as stating that U-boat crews who have been withdrawn from submarine warfare in the Atlantic and Mediterranean have been turned into submarine commandos.
Strengthened by a great number of soldiers from pioneer regiments, their job is to land at ports from submarines and paralyse them by night assaults. The submarines carry high explosives and new mines instead of torpedoes for these operations. A German naval spokesman stated that already commandps had spent several days and nights on Allied and Allied-occupied territory, destroying installations. The spokesman claimed (hat the raids had been most successful, but did not specify the places attacked.
