HARRIER ACTIVITIES
KIATERE CLUB. TEAMS RACE ON SATURDAY. A team's race was held on Saturday by members of the Kiatere Harrier Club, in preparation for the provincial championships which are to be held in Wellington on August 7. Teams were picked by the captain and vice-captain, and the race over one lap of the championship course, a distance of 3 1-8 miles, resulted in a win for the captain’s team, which comprised N. Jacobsen, J. Boscowan, K. Groves, E Pickett, and W. McDonald by 25 points to 30 points from the vicecaptain’s team (C. Summers, M. G. Fitzgibbons, G. Hayes, D. Stewart and A. Pickett). From the start a fast pace was set by N. Jacobsen. M. G. Fitzgibbons, G. Hayes and W. McDonald and positions changed very little throughout the race, the final placings being:—N. Jacobsen and W. McDonald. 20 minutes 2 seconds, 1; G. Hayes, 20.34. 3; M. G. Fitzgibbons, 20.50, 4; J. Boscowan, 20.57, 5. On their present form N. Jacobsen, G. Hayes. C. Summers, K. Groves, A. Pickett and E. Pickett should be the team to represent the club in the junior championships, and should do as much training as possible in the next two weeks. Next Saturday a training run will be hold from the Masterton Park, starting at 2.30 p.m.
