i OF ITALIAN ARMED FORCES Assumed by King Victor Emmanuel NEW PRIME MINISTER AND CHIEF OF ■ GOVERNMENT APPOINTED : LONDON, July 25. ! i The Rome radio announces that the King of Italy ; has accented the resignation of Mussolini. The radio added that the King has assumed supreihe command of the Italian armed forces, and that Mussolini’s successor as Prime Minister and as Chief of Government is Marshal Badoglio, although other reports mention the name of Pietro , the rest of whose name is not intelligible owing to bad reception conditions.
