FIFTY PER CENT. FOR SERVICE MEN. GOVERNMENT POLICY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The intention of the Government to allocate at least 50 per cent, of State houses available to returned service men was announced by the Prime Minister. Mr. Fraser, in replying in the House of Representatives last night to a question by Mr. Sutherland (Opposition, Hauraki), who had asked that the existing preference of 25 per cent, over civilians in the allocation of houses should be increased to 100 per cent. Steps had now been taken, said Mr. Fraser, to expedite immediate completion of housing in course of construction and to resume the full housing programme.
