STOCK SALES. GREAT SALE OF AYRSHIRES. AT ARDGOWAN, FEATHERSTON. THURSDAY, JULY 22, at 12 noon. UNRESERVED THIRD ANNUAL SALE of ARDGOWAN AYRSHIRES, The property of J. G. Donald, Esq. 1 The World's Greatest Producing Blood. Direct Progeny of Scotland’s Best. Every Animal from a Tested Dam. All Records made under' ordinary herd conditions. Sires have been sent to all parts of Australia and New Zealand. TESTED AYRSHIRES 47 Comprising 22 YEARLING BULLS, exceptionally well grown. 25 YEARLING HEIFERS, all from selected dams. The ARDGOWAN AYRSHIRE STUD stands pre-eminent in the dairy world. It has been built up and developed through a progressive policy of importing the world’s best Ayrshire blood—nine importations have been made of male and female stock from Scotland and Canada. The last importation, Lessnessock Twinkle, cost practically four figures to land on the farm. His half-brother has since sold at auction in Scotland for 1000 guineas. This year’s offering of stud bulls and heifers is outstanding, and is the natural result of the great battery of sires used in the stud. Every animal is from a tested dam, and in most cases from a long line of tested dams, many having life-time production records. Testing has been continuous for a long term of years, and all the butterfat records, which extend up to 708 lbs. in 305 days, have been put under ordinary dairying conditions and running with the herd of 120 cows. Latest figures show that Ardgowan has been responsible for no less than 13 out of the 16 Ayrshire bulls appearing in the lists of Sire Survey Bulls, probably a world’s record. This year’s offering is sired by the great Scottish importations, Harleyholm Topsman and Netherton Mahmoud (dam’s record, 802 lbs. fat) and by the home-bred sire. Ardgowan Coronation, and include a grandson of the great imported cow, Auchenbrain Crummie 28th. At last year’s sale a New Zealand record for all breeds was established when the 19 yearling bulls overaged 95 guineas and sold up to 200 guineas. The 20 yearling heifers averaged 38 guineas, selling up to 70 guineas. This year the whole outstanding offering will again be sold to the highest bidder without reserve. Purchases will be made for buyers unable to attend, and all commissions will be executed with the greatest of care. Apply to any branch of the Auctioneers for particulars and illustrated catalogues, which include train arrangements. Light Luncheon Provided. WRIGHT. STEPHENSON & CO., LTD., Stud Stock Salesmen, Wellington, Masterton and Branches.
