KOPUARANGA
SOCIAL CLUB DANCE WELCOME TO LANCE-CORPORAL KENNY. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable dance was held last night by the Kopuaranga Social Club, in honour of Lance-Corporal A. Kenny, who is home on furlough from the Middle East. There was a large attendance. Mr Ben Fenemor directed the proceedings as M.C. and thc dance music was played by Mr J. West, wnilc Misses J. Brophy and Madsen contributed extras. The winners of the .Monte Carlo waltz competitions were: Mrs T. O’Connor and Mr Innes; Miss P. Westhead and Mr R. Fenemor Junr. A home-made supper was served by thc ladies’ committee. On behalf of district residents, Mrs R. Miller welcomed Lance-Corporal Kenny and asked him to accept a. cheque from them to help to make his leave more enjoyable. Mr S. J. Clarke extended a welcome on behalf of ihe returned soldiers of the last war. The guest, who was accorded musical honours, thanked the settlers for their generous gift. Mrs Miller entertained with two humorous recitations and dancing continued until a late hour. The gathering concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
