WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT PARKVALE. / (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs N. Peacocke presided over the monthly meeting of the Parkvale Women's Institute, there being a large attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames D. N. Adams, R. p. Williams and Miss Franks. Mrs N. McKay, of Masterton, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for an interesting “Travel Talk.” Mesdames N. Peacocke and E. Rose were elected delegates to the conference of Women's Institutes which will be held in Gisborne on July 28 and 29. Miss H. McKinnon was the winner of a competition. The monthly competitions were judged by Mrs N. McKay and the successful competitors were:—Flowers: Seniors, Mrs L. Nolan 1, Mrs N. McKinnon 2, Mrs E. Rose 3. Shrubs: Mrs L. Nolan 1, Mrs R. P. Williams 2. Mrs N. McKinnon 3. Juniors: Flowers, Miss H. McKinnon 1. The hostesses were Mesdames A. Elkins, J. Jensen and Miss Mavis Lu kies. ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. P.G. Bro. W. McPherson presided over a well-attended meeting of members last evening. One member declared on and off the sick funds and sick pay totalling £5 13s 4d was ordered to be paid. P.G. Bro. H. J. Rathbone was accorded a vote of thanks for his report on the recently held Friendly Societies' Council meeting. It was decided to establish a Roll of Honour of members serving in the forces overseas and in New Zealand. Chlorination Plant. The work in connection with the erection of the Carterton high pressure water supply chlorination plant was completed at the weekend. Traffic Control Corps Dance. On Wednesday, July 58, the 28th Traffic Control Corps will hold a dance. Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra will provide the music. Revival Prayer Fellowship. The leader of the Revival Prayer Fellowship, established in Auckland recently, the Rev Fred C. Every,, is spending a few days with his brother, Mr R. H. Every, in Carterton, where he will speak on “The Benefit of Prayer” at the Intercessory service on Wednesday next at 7 p.m. The Revival Prayer Fellowship is not actually “some new thing” as may be supposed but an effort to co-operate with and further extend the influence of the world wide Revival Prayer movement which was established by a group of missionaries in China some 19 years ago. Mr Every has some interesting facts of answered prayer to relate, and is seeking to enrol “prayer partners” to pray for a world wide spiritual awakening before the war ends, believing this alone can bring about a righteous peace. Personal Items. The engagement is announced of Shirley Constance, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Colson, Carterton, to Corp. Edward John Artz, U.S.M.C., second son of Mr and Mrs H. A. Artz, Pottsville, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The funeral of the late Mr Wm. Rossiter took place yesterday and was well attended. The pall-bearers were Messrs A. E. Reid, K. H. Reid, H. J. Bassett, H. R. Blade, C. Olliver and G. Garratt. The Druids’ burial service was read by Bro H. J. Bassett. Services at the residence of Mr Blade and at the graveside were conducted by Messrs H. Manning and P. Griffen. Many beautiful wreaths were sent by relatives and friends.

REGENT THEATRE "PARIS CALLING" The programme tonight will be headed by the sensational drama "Paris Calling," in which the leading characters are portrayed by Basil Rathbone and Elizabeth Bergner.
