OBITUARY MR F. W. NILSSON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred in the Pahiatua Hospital of Frederick William Nilsson, of Eketahuna, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Sven Nilsson, pioneer settlers. His grandparents were pioneers of the Bush district. He was born in Eketahuna and received his education at the local school. He lived practically the whole of his life on his father’s sheep farm on the Newman Road and later owned his own farm at Atea. He had been in poor health for several years. He was not married and is survived by three sisters (Mesdames G. Worsfold, Feilding; R. G. Vile, Greytown, and Miss J. Nilsson, Pahiatua), and one brother (Mr J. Nilsson, Upper Hutt). A service was held in St. Cuthbert s Anglican Church and was conducted by the Rev. J. C. W. Mutter, who also officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners were his sister, Miss JNilsson and his nephew, Mr Murray Nilsson (Upper Hutt). The pall-bcar-ers were Messrs C. H. Parsons, Wilkie Anderson, H. R. Nordell, C. Goss, J. Monaghan and M. Nilsson. A number of beautiful floral tributes were received. MR JAMES RENMENT. The late Mr James Renment whose death occurred recently, was born in Nelson in 1877 and had been a member of the W.F.C.A. staff for 39 years. He collapsed at work and was found dead by a member of the staff. Ho was very courteous and obliging and was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends. He served in the South African War and left New Zealand with the 7th New Zealand Rough Riders. As a member of the New Zeaalnd Forces which fought in the South African War he was present at the Coronation of King Edward VII. He was a very keen footballer and received a medal in 1904 for being the best forward in the Eketahuna Club. He was a member of the Masonic and Myrtle lodges. He is survived by his widow and three daughters (Mrs D. Hercock, Nireaha. and Misses Nola and Zena Renment, Wellington), two sisters (Mrs S. Allen, Wellington, and Miss Renment), and one brother, Mr Renment (Nelson). 'The funeral was a very representative one, including Boer War veterans, soldiers from the Great War and members of the N.Z.E.F. who
have recently returned from overseas. Members of the Masterton and Pahiatua staffs of the W.F.C.A. were present. The service in St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church and at the graveside were conducted by Dr. E. M. Simmers in the unavoidable absence of the Rev. J. Mutter. The coffin was draped with the South African flag. Wreaths were received from the directors and management of the W.F.C.A., Masterton; staffs of the W.F.C.A. at Eketahuna and Pahiatua, R.S.A.. Eketahuna. Myrtle Lodge, the Fire Brigade, and members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Dickson, j. Trim, R. Bingham, S. Daniel. W. Hornblow and J. Bilby. The Boer War veterans’ wreath was an exceptionally fine one and was made from coloured laurel leaves tied with ribbon representing the South African colours. Liberty Loan. The sum of £27,000 was collected for the Liberty Loan in the Eketahuna borough and county. Personal. Sergeant Smith, who received the D.F.M., is a son of Mr C. J. Smith, of Konini, and a grandson of the late well known “Kiltie” Smith, of Hamua. His uncle, Mr Gordon Smith, was an officer in the Great War.
