ROTARY CHARTER
PRESENTED TO PAHIATUA CLUB. BY MASTERTON PRESIDENT. The presentation of the club’s charter and objects was made to the newlyformed Pahiatua Rotary Club last night by Mr. J. H. Cunningham, president of the Masterton Rotary Club at a gathering held in Pahiatua. The presentation was made on behalf of the District Governor, Mr. F. Hall-Jones, of Invercargill. There was a good attendance of Masterton Club members and visitors were also present from the Woodville and thme bannevirke Rotary clubs. The president of the Pahiatua Club, Dr. H. Paterson, welcomed the visitors. Mr. Cunningham referred to the growth of the Rotary movement in New Zealand. Pahiatua's example had been followed by the formation of eleven new Rotary clubs since the Pahiatua Club was formed in January. The world charter number of the Masterton Club, which was formed in 1925, was 2206, while those of the Pahiatua Club was 5603 and of the Woodville Club 5636. The Masterton members were accompanied by an entertainment party which- comprised Flying-Officer Wakelin, who contributed humorous items; Mr. F. Price, lightning sketch artist, and Mr. John Cunningham, piano soloist. Supper was served by the Pahiatua Club.
