MEAT BOARD

DELEGATES TO ELECTORAL COLLEGE POSTAL BALLOT NECESSARY. IN WAIRARAPA-HUTT AREA. A postal ballot is necessary this year for the election of two Wairarapa delegates on the. Electoral College, which in turn elects members of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. This is the first time for many years that a ballot has been required, as this year there are three candidates for the two vacancies. The two Wairarapa nominees, who represented the district on the Electoral College last year, are Messrs W. A. lorns and A. McDonald. The third candidate resides in Levin. Messrs lorns and McDonald were nominated by the Wairarapa Sheep Owners’ Federation, the Wairarapa Farmers’ Union and the Masterton and Wairarapa show societies, as the official delegates for the district, at a meeting held recently in Masterton. Farmers entitled to vote are those owning 100 or more sheep, in the following counties: Hutt, Makara, Featherston, Wairarapa South, Masterton, Mauriceville, Castlepoint and Eketahuna. In view of the fact that no ballot has been necessary for many years, farmers are particularly asked to make a point of exercising their rights on this occasion by marking and returning the voting papers within the stipulated time. It is expected that the votingpapers will be sent out by the G Meat Board in the very near future.
