BOWLING
MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL RECORD MEMBERSHIP SHOWN. NO CHANGE IN COMPETITIONS. The annual meeting of the Masterton Bowling Club was held last night at the club’s pavilion in Dixon Street. Mr H. B. Thomas presided over a representative gathering of bowlers. Before commencing the business of the meeting the president asked all members to stand in silence in memory of the late Messrs F. H. Dundgrdale and J. C. Ewington two of the older members of the club who had passed away since the last annual meeting. Mr Thomas made reference to those members of the club who were serving overseas and also to members who were giving service in New Zealand. He pointed out that the club now had a larger membership than at any previous period in its history. Mr Thomas thanked his committee and in particular the treasurer (Mr Roberts), the secretary (Mr L. Wylie) and the ground committee (Messrs Gordon and Foster Percy) for their help in the smooth running of the club. It was decided to erect a permanent seat for the accommodation of players and visitors in memory of the late Mr Dunderdale the seat to be erected by contributions from the club members. Two new members were elected and other new members were approved subject to completing the usual entry forms. It vzas decided that the competitions be the same as last year's. After several members had congratulated the president and the committee on their excellent conduct of the club, the president presented the prizes which had been won last year. Opportunity was also taken to wish Mr L. T. Wylie every success, bo.th in bowling and in business, on his removal to Dannevirke. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr E. W. Nielsen; president, Mr H. B. Thpmas; vice-presidents, Messrs J. V. Gordon and Foster Percy; secretary, Mr F. Price; treasurer, Mr J. F. Roberts; committee, jyiessrs W. Hendry. W. Reid, F. Mils. G. Hayne and F. Evans; selector, Mr A. Stubbings; auditor, Mr A. O. Jones; match committee, Messrs Hendry, Stubbings and Lewis; board stewards, Messrs Beecroft, Davis and Clayson; delegates to Wairarapa Centre, Messrs Hayne, Roberts and Stubbings; club coach, Mr G. Beecroft. Mr Thomas moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Press for the publicity that had been accorded to the club during the year.
