SALE AT ADDINGTON BEEF PRICES INCREASE. DEMAND FOR PIGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) , CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. At the Addington market prices for beef showed a further increase. Best quality fat sheep maintained recent rates, but inferior to medium sheep, especially ewes, showed a substantial decline. As in recent weeks prime wethers and ewes met with keen competition and sold well up to late rates. Medium and unfinished sheep, specially ewes, were harder to sell, and a drop of about 2s Gd a head was recorded. The highest price for wethers was 50s 4d for twotooths, others of the same age making up to 47s Id. Best price for ewes was 40s 4d. In fat cattle an advance of fully 25s a head was recorded for best beef, which made from 50s to 54s per 1001 b, Porkers were cleared at full schedule rates. For choppers the best sale so fai- this season was recorded. In the bacon section competition was exceedingly keen, values improving by 5s to Gs a head; average price per lb., B’Zid to 9d.

MASTERTON SALE FAT VALUES FIRMER. The Wairarapa livestock auctioneers report as follows on their sale held at Masterton yesterday:—Fat values were firmer whilst store stock sold on a par with previous sales. The following are values obtained at auction:—Fat wethers. 31s 9d, 28s; fat ewes, 23s Id, 21s Gd, 17s 4d and 12s 6d; light fat hoggets, 19s and 18s 3d. Stores: Store wethers, 19s lOd. 19s 3d, 19s Id; 2-th ewes, r.w. S.D., 23s 3d: 4-th. ewes, r.w. S.D., 225; 6-th. to 4-yr. ewes. 20s: G-yr. ewes, r.w, S.D., 17s; w.w. hoggets. 15s lOd: others. 10s and Ils 7d; b.f. hoggets, 13s 4d, 10s 6d; 1 ewe and lamb, all counted. 10s. Cattle: 2*/ayr. P.A. steers, £8 18s; P.A. cows, r.w.b., £7; S.H. cows, r.w.b.. £6 15s.-
