FOUGHT' OVER NORTHERN FRANCE AMERICANS TAKE HEAVY TOLL OF AXIS AIRCRAFT. AT COST OF EIGHT BOMBERS & FOUR FIGHTERS. LONDON, July 14. Strong formations of Flying Fortresses made a heavy attack on German airfields and aircraft factories outside Paris and in Northern France. Over 100 German fighters attacked the Fortresses and lost hall' of their number. First reports show that 45 enemy fighters were shot down by Fortresses, while escorting fighters accounted for six more. Boston bombers and Typhoon fight-er-bombers attacked airfields in Northern France. Eight bombers and foul' fighters were lost in this attack.

It is officially announced taht "strong formations of the American ArmyEighth Air Force heavy bombers and formations of R.A.F. fighter-bombers and light bombers attacked German aircraft installations in France today. The Flying Fortresses bombed aircraft repair and assembly plants at Villa Coublay, an aircraft factory, and a park at Lc Bourget and the airfield of Amiens-Gliscy. The bombing results were good at all three targets. Fighter opposition — was encountered, particularly by the formations attacking Le Bourget and Vila Coublay.”
