OPAKI

0 WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at the residence of Mrs Wingate, who presided. The Institute decided to join the Crippled Children’s Society. A reading: “The West Coaster,” gave an interesting glimpse of the district still associated with the memory of the late Mr R. J. Seddon. The roll call, an economy hint, brought to light some interesting devices for cutting down waste. The secretary was instructed to write to Mrs Wilton congratulating her on the celebration of her birthday and wishing her' a speedy recovery from her illness. The competitions resulted: —Sewing: Mrs Jaine, 1; Mrs Mannell, 2. Cooking: Mrs Jaine, 1; Mrs Mannell, 2. Best bloom: Mrs Chesterman, 1. Mrs Marchbanks invited the Institute to'meet at her home in August, when the competitions will be ditty bag and face cloth, pikelets, and one head cf ' bloom (bulbs). The roll call will be I “A wise saying.” i
