METHODIST CHURCH
MEN’S FELLOWSHIP. STAMP COLLECTING COMPETITION. A successful tea and meeting was held by the Methodist Men’s Fellowship last evening. The president, Mr E. M. Hodder, presided over a good attendance of members. As a result of the stamp collecting competition, some 35,000 stamps were handed in, and these will be sold by the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary to augment their funds for special purposes. A good deal of happy fellowship was created by the way in which the judge, Dr. N. H. Prior, handed out the prizes and commented on the way in which various members had sent in their collections. Special mention was made of a young Maori patient of the Masterton Hospital, Miss Para To Whaiti, who had collected, cleaned and tied into neat bundles over 3,500 stamps. After tea, when routine business had been dealt with, the Rev. G. H. Goodman gave an address on “An After Dinner Dose of Realism,” in which he dealt with some of the practical problems of rehabilitation which the church must be concerned about. It was agreed to meet again in a month’s time to discuss and to take action in the matters which had been raised. It was also agreed to continue the stamp collecting competition for another three months, when a further prize will bo presented to the winner.
