PLUNKET SOCIETY OPERATIONS DURING PAST YEAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) I In her annual report the Plunket nurse for the district states that; 47 new cases were dealt with during \the year as compared with 43 in the previous year. The distance travelled; in the motor car was 7321 miles (7260jin the previous year). The visits ito homes totalled 866 <621 in the previous year land to the rooms 1729. Older children immunised against diphtheria numbered 210. The cases on the books since the work began have reached a, total of 1005. The report dealt in a comprehensive manner with the operations of the local Plunket Society during the year ended March 31. RED CROSS SOCIETY EUCHRE PARTY. There was a good attendance at tne euchre party held under the auspices of the local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society on Monday afternoon. Mrs Charles was the winner at cards, while competitions were won by Mesdames Baker and Sim. Donations were received from Mesdames McKenna and S. .Benton. Personal. Sister Patricia Eawarcs was entertained at morning tea at the Service Club by members of the Women’s Patriotic Committee. The president, Mr J. W. Card, made a presentation from the women's patriotic committee to the guest of honour, who is to proceed overseas. Sister Edwards suitably thanked Mr (*ard and the members of the committee. Mrs Arch. Clark presided at the piano. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Riddiford, Raper and Shepherd, and Misses Card, Jean Donald, Flora Donald, Jean Tutbury and Mr S. Kilsby. .The annual report of the local Plunket nurse (Nurse M. G. Hitchman) states: “I wish to thank Sister Erwin of Kelvin Hospital and Dr Sharp for their co-operation, which means that the best can be given for the welfare of the mothers and babies. My thanks also I extend to our president,

Mrs Quentin Donald, and our secretary, Miss B. Currie, and the committee for the progress of the work. COSY THEATRE ‘•SONS OF THE SEA." Tomorrow night's programme will be headed by the stirring drama of the sea, “Sons of the Sea,” starring Michael Redgrave and Valerie Hobson.
