NINE MARINES INJURED

TRUCK CAPSIZES NEAR CARTERTON. VICTIMS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. When a heavy military truck overturned on the main highway a few chains south of the Taratahi Hotel on Sunday, nine Marines were injured, one seriously. The truck was travelling south, it. is stated, and as it approached Anderson’s Line a cart with a horse tethered behind came out of Anderson’s Line and turned towards Masterton. To avoid a collision with the horse the driver of the truck swerved and the truck skidded and capsized. The Marines in the truck were thrown out. One had his ribs crushed, one had his collarbone broken and the others were badly bruised. They were treated by Dr. W. J. C. Wells and were later admitted to a Marine Corps hospital. The cart was driven by Mr Arthur Luscombe.
