SALE AT ADDINGTON DEMAND FOR STORE SHEEP SLACK. FAT CATTLE PRICES IMPROVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 7. Owing to snow conditions in the country districts and to the poor quality o£ the yarding the demand for store sheep was very slack at Addington today, most of the larger lines being passed in. Thci best price was 28s Cd. Medium ewes ranged from 15s Id to 20s and inferior from 2s 6d to 9s 3d. In fat sheep the best price for wethers was 5Gs Id, and there were other sales of small lots from 49s Id to 555. Highest price for ewes was 44s 7d, and others made from 33s 7d to 40s 4d. The quality of the fat cattle was much better than for some time. The market showed an improvement of up to 20s a head for best quality, and up to 10s for average classes. Best beef ranged from 46s 6d to 49s per 1001 b.. good prime, 43s to 455, ordinary, 40s to 425, heifers, up to 445. For chopper pigs competition was exceptionally keen. In the bacon section the average price per lb., was 8d to S'/ad.

MASTERTON SALE FAT SHEEP PRICES FIRMER. The Wairarapa live stock auctioneers report as follows on their weekly sale held yesterday at Masterton: —With the exception of one or two pens in each section of the store sheep, the offering mainly was of poor to medium quality and although a total clearance was effected the competition was not spirited. In the fat sheep pens prices were firmer for the quality offering. The following is an indication of prices:— Fats: Wethers. 30s, 29s Gd. 27s Gd: b.f. wethers, 2Gs; fat ewes, 17s, 18s, 20s, 21s Gd, 235; b.f. hoggets. 18s 9d. Store sheep: M.A. ewes, r.w. S.D., 18s Gd to 225; g.m. ewes. r.w. S.D., 9s Id to IGs; w.w. hoggets. 13s. 13s lOd, 15s. 15s lOd, IGs 4d; ewe hoggets, 14s Gd, small, 8s Gd, 9s; wethers. 4-th.,. 23s 3d. 21s 3d: wethers, 2-th.. 18s 6d; store b.f. hoggets, Ils 9d. 14s Gd.
