BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Masterton Bowling Chib states inter alia: —Following the arrangement previously made, the club is availing itself of (he advice of Mr W. H. Horton, of Palmerston North. A great deal is due to our greenkeeper, Mr W. Bishop, who is untiring in his work on the greens and who always has the interests of the club at heart. Our Greens sub-committee. Messrs J. V. Gordon (chairman) and Foster Percy at all times have done splendid work, and our thanks are due to them and Mr Bishop for the excellent condition of the greens. In addition, I also desire to express thanks to all those who assisted Messrs Percy and Bishop with the topdressing, namely. Messrs de Castro. D. Thomson, Guth-rie-Smith, Holdsworth. Christian and Beattie. As usual there have been many generous donations to the club, and the thanks of the club atre due to all donors, these being —Mrs Beecroft, table clcjths; Mr A. H. Daniell, seat; Mr H. H. Daniell, seats and bicycle stands; Mr G. Hyde, seat; Mr H. W. Lindsey. honours board; Messrs L. Dorset. C. W. Dickason and F. Percy, cash donations; Messrs .1. Campbell and H. B. Thomas, refund of trophies; Mr J. Ewington, seat in memory of the late Mr J. C. Ewington. It is realised that the billiard table has for some time required attention but owing to the conditions ruling it has been impossible to get anyone to attend to this. However, a separate account has been opened with the Post Office Savings Bank and funds have been, and will be, paid into it to meet the cost of repairs at a later date. Your committee wishes to thank the Press for its publicity, all those ladies who at different times assisted with afternoon tea, Mr and Mrs F. Martin for their assistance with the afternoon tea on Saturdays, the selector, match committee, board stewards, afternoon tea and billiard stewards, and all those who have assisted in the welfare of the club generally. I also desire to thank all the members of the committee for their co-operation and work for the benefit of the club. The report is signed by H. B. Thomas, president.
