AT CARTERTON SALE YESTERDAY.
GOOD VALUES FOR PIGS
Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday:—There was a small entry of sheep and pigs. The enquiry for sheep was very restricted, but pigs sold well. Dairy cows were in demand, a small herd offered, on behalf of Mr Culvert made very good prices and averaged over £l2. Fat and store cows sold well. Prices:—Sheep: Fat wethers, to 275; fat hoggets, to 23s lOd: forward ewes, to 10s 9d. Pigs: Forward stores, £2 3s to £2 7s ■ store pigs. 28s, 28s 6d to 30s; slips, to 24s 6d: wcaners, 225. 27s to 27s 6d; Berkshire sow* with litter of 8, to £8 ss; Berkshire sews, close to farrow, £7 ss. £7 15s, £8 to £8 ss: P.B. Tamworth sow. close to farrow, to £9: choppers. £5 to £7 2s 6d; sows, r.w. boar, to £5. Cattle: Jersey cows, just calved. £lO 5s to £11; Jersey cows in milk, to £1.1: Jersey cows, due August. £8 to £l4 15s; Jersey cows, due September. £7 to £lO is; springing heifers, to £9 ss: fat heifers, £5 Os. £6 to £7; fat cows. £5. £6. £6 5s to £7 15s: forward cows, £4 to £4 17s 6d; store cows, £2 12s 6d, £2 16s, £3 to £3 15s; cull cows. 37s 6d to £2; cows and calves, 37s 6d to £3 ss.
