Clean Weekend.
A clean weekend was reported by the Borough Health Inspector, Mr T. A. Russell, this morning, in respect to the diphtheria outbreak in Masterton. The swabbing of the school children involved had been completed, he said, and similar work was now proceeding with contacts. Interhouse Presentation. At the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s indoor basketball competition, to be played in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium tonight, a presentation will be made to the general secretary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A., Mr C. W. Gaze, as a mark of esteem and a token of appreciation of his services. Mr Gaze relinquishes his position on July 1. St. Matthew’: Rebuilding Fund. The actual amount of donations re ceived so far for the rebuilding of St. Matthew’s Church and Vicarage is £4893 16s, with promises of a further £3OO. The Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich said at yesterday’s service at St. Matthew’s that the half-way mark had been reached stating that when £lO,OOO was in hand a start could be made with the building of the new church.
The Returning Officer announces that he has received the following nominations for the three vacancies for Producers’ Representatives on the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board: —W. Doig (sitting member), Papakaio; G. H. Grigg, Hororata; J. R. L. Hammond, Rata; F. C. Johnstone (sitting member), Waitetuna; L. Maclean (sitting member), Hastings; A. B. Moore, Whangarei; W. W.
