HIGH STANDARDS
AIR TRAINING IN CANADA. NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE MINISTER IMPRESSED. (Special P.A. Correspondent.) OTTAWA, June 26. The New Zealand Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, has been greatly impressed with new methods and ingenious apparatus installed at various Canadian stations established under the air training plan. He has also been impressed by the high standard of accommodation and recreational facilities for trainees. He has found that station commanders are men of a good type who show the keenest interest in the welfare of their pupils. Weather conditions have interfered with Mr Jones’s itinerary, but in the last seven days he has covered almost 4000 miles by aeroplane. He has visited nine widely separated centres at which there are New Zealanders, and at one of these 210 men paraded. The commanding officers expressed the utmost satisfaction with the high standard reached by New Zealand trainees. Mr Jones is continuing his tour, and will visit other stations where New Zealanders are located.
