APPOINTED TO NEW ZEALAND MR WILLIAM CARTER BURDETT. SUCCESSOR TO GENERAL HURLEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The nomination by President Roosevelt of Mr William Carter Burdett as Envoy Exetraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the United States in New Zealand was announced by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, today. Mr Burdett has ' had a long and distinguished career in the United States Foreign Service. He was born . in 1884 and has served in the United States Army, in which he attained the rank of captain and has been a United States Consul in four different foreign cities. He was Consul-General at Buenos Aires and Rio De Janeiro before going in 1941 to the State Department as Director of the Foreign Services Officers’ Training School.
