TRAPPING RIGHTS

AUCTION OF OPOSSUM BLOCKS. The Conservator of Forests, Mr S. A. C. Darby, held an auction sale of opossum trapping blocks in the Masterton Municipal Hall today. Although some old faces were missing, there was a good attendance of trappers. Bidding was not as keen as was the case last year, though there was good competition' for the better blocks. Some blocks were passed in. The indications are for a good season, with buyers enquiring on behalf of agents. Some 60 blocks were disposed of, affecting State forests within the Wellington Acclimatisation Society’s district.
