Field Marshl von Bock asked to be given command of special Axis forces in Italy, including the Italian forces under General Rossi, but the Italian High Command refused to put their troops under German command. The German radio Quoted reports that the Italians have evacuated Castello Rosso, the easternmost island of the Dodecanese group.
