STOCK MARKET
SALE . AT ADDINGTON FAT SHEEP VALUES IMPROVE. KEEN COMPETITION FOR PORKERS. (By Tel eeranh—Press Association.') CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. A sharp improvement in values for fat sheep on a short yarding was a feature of the Addington market today. Buyers operated keenly for store sheep, prices maintaining the firming trend of recent sales. For the second week in succession the small entry of fat sheep apparently failed, to meet the city requirements. The sharpest rise ot the season was shown till the closing stages, when the market eased slightly to a figure still a good deal in advance of last week's rates.
Medium cattle were more plentiful, though there was a good proportion. of unfinished sorts. Early in the sale the demand for primer sorts was steady at last week’s rates, with other divisions down by 20s a head. The sale generally eased toward the close, when secondary cattle had a very dragging market.
A smaller entry of porkers met keen competition in all classes at schedule rates. Choppers were in large supply, but recent high rates were maintained. A mediumsized bacon entry showed a shade improvement in values; average price, pork 8d per lb., bacon 8d to S’/ad lb.
