THREE MORE CARRIERS

OUTBREAK OF DIPHTHERIA. POSITION IN MASTERTON. Three more carriers of diphtheria were admitted to the Masterton Hospital yesterday from the same source of infection as in the previous cases. “We are making every effort to, control the outbreak,” said Mr T. A. Russell, Borough Sanitary Inspector, today. Mr Russell said that he and Nurse Craig, District Nurse, were taking swabs of all children attending the school concerned. The work was considerably simplified by the fact that there was a bacteriologist at the Masterton Hospital, who was able to examine the swabs promptly, thus avoiding the need, as was formerly the case, of sending them to Wellington.
