GOOD PRICES
FOR SHEEP AND CATTLE
AT MASTERTON STOCK SALE YESTERDAY.
LIMITED COMPETITION FOR HORSES.
The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Masterton sale yesterday:—Good prices were maintained for both sheep and cattle. Ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, sold at advanced rates. The hoggets were not up to last week in quality, but sold readily. Only a few pens of medium fats were yarded. Cattle sold particularly well. Several horses, both light and draughts, were offered, but the majority only met with very limited competition. A few of the unbroken hacks made fair prices, but draughts were not wanted. The following are the prices:— Sheep: Fat b.f. downs, 24s 6d to 24s 9d; fat woolly wethers, 23s to 265; fat ewes, 12s 6d to 15s; fat lambs, 19s to 245; ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, 4-th., 21s 6d; 4 and 5-yr. ewes, 15s 6d to 18s; 6-yr. ewes, 13s to 18s 3d; Store ewes, 6s to 8s; w.f. woolly hoggets (good), 16s to 17s; medium, 12s to 13s 6d; shorn w. hoggets, 13s to 14s 6d; ewe lambs, 13s fid; 2-th wethers, 19s to 19s 6d. Cattle: Forward condition 2-yr. steers, £9 ss; others, £7 10s to £8 14s; . 18-mos. P.A. steers (good), £7 17s; P.A. cows (r.w. bull), good, £6 16s; others, £4 10s to £5 10s; P.A. weaner steers, £4 4s; fat cows, £6 to £7.
Horses: Draughts (broken all work), £l2 to £l5; unbroken, £3 to £8; hacks, unbroken, £8 to £l3; unbroken, £2 to’ £5.
