Read v. another. c» OBITUARY Advice received from Greymouth announces the death of Mr Frank Knell, which occurred on Sunday last. He spent his early days in Greytown and was the second son of the late Rev. Amos Knell, Rural Dean of the Wairarapa, and the late Mrs Knell. There are still a number of old residents in this district who will remember him’ as a schoolboy and later as a cadet in the Greytown Post Office. Ultimately he was transferred to the general post office in Wellington.
From youth he took a keen interest in field sports of all kinds, and became a prominent cricket and football player. In parts of New Zealand he attained representative honours. After a transfer to the South Island he finally settled in Greymouth, where he remained until the time, of his death. His eldest son is attached to the staff of the Union Bank of Australia at Martinborough.
TOWN HALL TWO BIG FEATURES
At the Town Hall tonight, two big features will be shown—“ Pacific Blackout,” a brilliant drama in which Robert Preston and Martha O’Driscoll have the leading roles, and “Footsteps in the Dark,” an excelent mystery comedy, featuring Errol Flynn and Brenda Marshall.
