TRADING CONDITIONS LOCAL FIRMS GIVE GOOD SERVICE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Despite the difficulty in obtaining goods the business firms of Carterton are giving faithful service to the public. Writing to friends in Carterton under date May 3. 1943, Signalman A. R. Tankersley states that he had been in hospital with a wound over an eye, but was waiting to be posted to a unit again. Mrs F. - Sage, of Lower Hutt, is a visitor to Carterton, and is staying with her mother, Mrs Bridge, Tyne Street. Senior Football Match. In the Wairarapa Rugby Union's senior championshiop on Saturday Carterton will meet the Army again at Featherston, as the latter team is unable to travel. On the previous occasion when these teams met the Army was victorious. Saturday's game should prove interesting as Carterton is an improved side and the latter hope to turn the tables on their opponents. The match will commence at. 1.30 p.m. REGENT THEATRE “HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY." One of the screen’s greatest sensational dramas, telling the vivid story of the Welsh coalfields, “How Green was my Valley,” will be shown tonight, with Walter Pidgeon, Roddy -McDowell, Donald Crisp, Maureen O'Hara and Anna Lee in the chief roles.
