WAR SACRIFICE
ARTISTIC IRON GATES FROM GROUNDS OF ULSTER PARLIAMENT. TO BE CONVERTED INTO MUNITIONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY. June 22. The Northern Ireland Minister of Finance announced that in view of the urgent demands for metal for war purposes the great ornamental gates at the entrance to the grounds of the Northern Ireland Parliament Buildings, near Belfast, are to be removed for conversion into munitions of war. The gates are of considerable artistic value. Over 5,200 tons of gates and railings have been collected in Northern Ireland and 3,340 tons have been shipped to Britain for further processing.
