Mrs P. Cooper, Mangatainoka, and Miss V. Field, Kaitawa, are spending a holiday in Auckland. The death occurred on Saturday at Mako Mako (8 miles from Pahiatua) of Mrs Ellen Groves, wife of Mr Frank Groves, a well known settler, at the age of 79 years. Mr and Mrs J. D. Crozier, “Roselea,” Wangaehu, announce the engagement of their youngest daughter, Npla Jean, to Donald Watkin, younger son of Mr and Mrs J. W. T. Jones, Lansdowne, Masterton. The funeral of the late Mrs A. M. Stewart took place in Masterton on Friday afternoon. Services at the chapel and graveside were conducted by the Rev. G. H. Goodman. There was a representative attendance. Many I beautiful floral tributes were in evid-1 ence. Among them were wreaths from the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club, the outside staff of the Master ton Borough Council, and the employees of the Waingawa Freezing Works. The pall- / bearers were Messrs C. Stewart, K. Kenward, J. Stewart and S. Stewart.
