NAVAL REVIEW
THE KING AT ALGIERS PARTICULAR NOTICE TAKEN OF WRENS. AND OF MERCHANT SEAMEN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.0. a.m.) RUGBY, June 11. After inspecting a Marine Guard of Honour at Algiers, tne King marched slowly down the ranks of a number of Wrens. He occasionally spoke to some of the girls, whose pride and excitement at the honour were visible on most of their faces. The King then inspected long rows of sailors, drawn up in white-clad formations on the quayside. His Majesty also paused to give special attention to a group of merchant seamen, among whom were a number of Americans and other representatives of Allied nations. After the review ashore, the King was piped aboard an American warship and shown round the ship by its commanding officer. Finally the King walked back to the dockside and climbed to the deck of a British battleship, on which every member of the crew stood lined up on the decks or at attention at his post, while six boatswains piped aboard the Royal Admiral of the Fleet.
The King, after being greeted by the battleship's captain, stood at the salute while the National Anthem was played. His Majesty then made a complete tour of the great warship, showing his usual close interest in every detail of its armament and equipment.
