NO RISKS WITH PUBLIC. “The Masterton Borough Council’s attitude in respect to the reopening of the Opera House is that no risks should be taken with a public building used for large gatherings,” said the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, today, refer? ring to the position of the Opera House. “The building should be properly strengthened, in accordance with the report of the Public Works Department engineers.” Mr Jordan said he had suggested to the Trust Lands Trust ,owners of the Opera House, that if its architect could not agree with the strengthening proposals of the Public Works Department engineers and the Borough engineer, who were acting in conjunction, a meeting of the Trust’s architect and the engineers concerned should be held to reach a settlement.
