HASTWELL’S MEETING ADDRESS ON EGYPT. WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS.' (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Hastwells Women's Institute, Mrs K. Nga-: tuere presided over a fair attendance ■ of members. ’ I A very interesting and instructive j demonstration of refooting stockings: was given by Mrs J. Isakson, Kai- ■ paroro. Each month a member is asked to give a short talk on a country of interest to members. This month Mrs J. Dick gave an address on Egypt,' and j showed some beautiful gifts which | came from that country. ; The competitions for this month re-1 suited: —Mittens made from old sock; tops: —Seniors: Mrs E. G. Sigvertsen, i 1; Mrs K. Ngatuere, 2; Mrs A. K. Mad-1 sen, 3. Juniors: Miss E. Larsen, 1; • Miss E. Dick, 2; Miss I. Madsen, 3. Men’s buttonhole: Miss I. Madsen, 1; Miss H. Madsen and Mrs K. Ngatuere, ’ equal, 2.

The parcel fund conducted by Mrs J. Dick was won by Mrs Madsen. The game organised by Miss H. .Madsen resulted: Mrs K. Ngatuere, 1; Mrs Morris, 2. The motto was read by the president. The roll call, which- was given by Mrs Thorby, was the best way to save sugar.

Afternoon tea was handed round by the hostesses, Mrs J. Dick and Miss E. Dick.
