WEDDING
PITTS—NIX. At St. John’s Church, Featherston, recently, Maureen, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs, C. J. Nix, “Waipoto,” Tauherenikau, was married to Warrant Officer Robert Perry Pitts, Junr., son of Mr and Mrs R. P. Pitts, of Adrian, Georgia, U.SA. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of white lace and net over satin, and a beautifully embroidered veil lent by a friend Her only ornament was a string of seed pearls, and a shower bouquet of white roses and chrysanthemums completed her ensemble.
Mrs Guy Rhodes, sister of the bride, who attended as matron of honour, wore a princess frock of hydrangea pink matt crepe. The two bridesmaids, Miss Peggy Heyder, Masterton, 'and Miss Phyllis Alexander (Day's Bay), wore frocks cut on similar lines in hydrangea blue, and each wore topknots of flowers with bonquets to tone. Warrant Officer David O. Sauls was best man, and the groomsmen were Lieut. Claude Whitlock and Lieut. Earle Cockburn, U.S.M.C. After the ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. J. R. Higgs, a reception was held at “Waipoto,” followed by a dance in the woolshed, which had been attractively decorated with Allied flags and greenery by the friends of the bride.
The three-tiered wedding cake was made and presented by Mrs Alex. Wilkie, of Hastings. Among the many guests were a number of the bridegroom’s fellow officers. The bride, who is well known throughout the Wairarapa as a talented dancer, is now on the nursing staff of the Masterton Hospital. COSY THEATRE TWO BIG FEATURES. Tomorrow night there will be shown “Torpedo Boat” (a thrilling air and sea drama) and “The Great Impersonation" (an outstanding drama featuring Ralph Bellamy and Evelyn Ankers.
