“JUST LIES”
STORY OF RUSSOGERMAN PEACE TALKS PUBLISHED BY SWEDISH PRO-NAZI PAPER. SOVIET MINISTER'S EMPHATIC DENIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON. June 16. The Pro-German Swedish newspaper “Allehanda,” published a special edition today, stating that Russian-Ger-man peace talks were held recently at a boarding house near Stockholm. The negotiations were said to have been between high German officers and several Russian delegates, including Madame Kollantay, Soviet Minister to Sweden, and to have lasted for several days. The Russians, the paper says, offered the Germans Lithuania, Esthonia, Latvia and Poland and negotiations broke down when the Germans also demanded the Ukraine. The British United Press Stockholm correspondent says the “Allehanda’s” story of Russian-German peace talks is not confirmed from any other source. Madame Kollontay emphatically denied the whole story and said it was just lies from a German quarter.
