MAYOR LA GUARDIA
INVESTIGATIONS INTO ADMINISTRATION ORDERED BY NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL. DRAMATIC MIDNIGHT SESSION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 9.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 16. The City Council, in a dramatic midnight session, voted to empower a special committee to make an investigation of Mr La Guardia’s administration as Mayor. Earlier in the evening the Democratic majority on the council introduced a resolution to appoint an investigating committee. Mr La Guardias supporters objected, however, on the technical grounds that the proposal could not be considered at the same session as that in which it was introduced. The Democratic majority therefore adjourned the Council meeting until one minute after midnight, which technically was next day, when the resolution was carried. .
The “Herald-Tribune” says the investigation is aimed immediately at the city’s Commissioner of Investigation, Mr William Herland, but is expected to spread to other departments of Mr La Guardia’s administration.
