TO GO INTO CAMP
AUCKLAND WATERS!DERS. APPEAL BOARD'S DECISION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 15. Decisions affecting members of the Waterside Workers’ Union for whom appeals had been lodged by the Auckland Waterfront Control Commission, were given by No. 2 (Auckland) Armed Forces Appeal Board today. The commission’s cases were heard early in June, when it was decided that 75 category A men should be made available for the forces, and the order of their calling up was deferred till personal appeals were heard last Friday. The original number of 75 category A reservists was reduced to 61 by reason of altered medical gradings and further evidence regarding the domestic responsibilities of the men. When dealing today with the order in which the men should be called up, the board decided that 18 appeals should be dismissed, the men to be available immediately. These were married men with one child. In the category of married men with two children there were 24 reservists, and they were ordered to be made available by August 15. In 13 other cases the reservists had three children, and .their availability was deferred till October 15. Two of the men had their calling up date deferred till September 1, and in the case of one man a medical reboarding was recommended.
At last Friday's sitting of the board personal appeals by 54 watersiders were heard, and today only three were adjourned sine die on grounds of hardship.
