Soldier’s Strange Experience.
A remarkable story is told of a returned soldier who is at present in the Taumaninui Hospital, states the “Auckland Star.” Fifty-one years of age and a veteran of the last war, the soldier left New Zealand with the Second N.Z.E.F. three years ago and went to England. While there he was operated on for gall stones, and, after being in hospital some time, he was invalided home. When he arrived in Egypt on his way out to New Zealand he was reboarded and passed as fit. He therefore stayed in the Middle East, participating in various campaigns during the following eighteen months. He then became ill apd was invalided home, arriving in New Zealand about thee months ago and going into the Taumarunui Hospital. An operation was performed and a piece of rubber tubing SJ-in. in length was found pushing into the soldier’s liver. It had been the/e since the operation in England nearly three years ago!
