NEW DISEASE
PROBABLY IN PNEUMONIA GROUP APPEARANCE IN UNITED STATES. HIGH MORTALITY RATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 14. A new unidentified disease with a high mortality rate, probably from the pneumonia group, has appeared in an isolated community. Dr. Dyer, cf the Public Health Service, stated that of 17 cases-eight had died, including several nurses attending the original case. Later there was one case in an Army camp. Dr. Dyer said the discovery uf the disease was “rather astonishing.” The causative agent had been isolated in animals.
