A Chinese communique confirms that Sung-tse, one of the last Japanese foot-' holds south of the Yangtse River, has been completely recaptured. The communique says that enemy remnants are fleeing in great confusion, hotly pursued by the Chinese. Sinkiang-kow, Mopanchow, and other strategic points leading to Sung-tse were also captured. The communique adds that the main body of the Japanese who are engaged in a battle near Chientshui, are retreating after suffering heavily. Small groups are being rounded up. The Japanese at Wuyi, near Kinhwa, in Chekiang Province, were reinforced on June 9. and counter-attacked, but were finally repulsed, leaving many dead. The Japanese lost 14.290 killed and the Chinese lost one-third of an army edrps in the battle for the Taihang Mountains, according to the National Military Council.
