GERMANS & ITALIANS IN DODECANESE ACCORDING TO TASS AGENCY. OPEN WARFARE REPORTED . AT RHODES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 14. Open warfare between Italian garrisons in the Dodecanese Islands, north-east of Crete, and German troops who were sent to reinforce them is reported by the Tass (Soviet) News Agency. Quoting a report from Istanbul, the agency says that the Italians fired on German troops, and Italian coastal guns scored a direct hit on a German transport which was landing troops at Rhodes. The Italian commander at Kattaria refused to admit the German troops to the town, declaring that he had not received instructions. The Germans, after two hours’ fighting, broke into the town, disarmed the garrison and locked up the Italians in their own barracks.
