WEDDING
WYETH—PAYTON. St. Matthew’s Church. Masterton, was beautifully decorated with hydrangeas and chrysanthemums on Saturday evening when Betty Mary, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Payton, “Brookfield,’ Akura, was married to Noel Thomas, second son of Mr and Mrs T. Wyeth, “Hawkhurst,” Mount Bruce Road. The ceremony was performed by the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. Pupils ■of St Matthew's Collegiate School, of which the bride is an ex-pupil, sang sweetly in the choir. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an exquisite gown of powder blue satin brocade with a silk embroidered veil held in place by silver leaves and cream and blue orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of orchids and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by Mesdames David Young (twin sister of the bride) and Eric Holmwood, as matrons-of-honour, and by Misses Peggy Wy- , eth (sister of the bridegroom) and Nan Rishworth as bridesmaids. They wore becoming gowns of powder blue ripple georgette with fully gored skirts gathered to the bodice and pointed necklines. Silver girdles were worn and they carried toning bouquets of cyclamen and chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Diana St. Lawrence (a relation of the bride) and Jennifer Holmwood were flower girls. They wore pretty Victorian frocks of powder blue georgette with silver girdles and they wore flowers in their hair and carried blue posies. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Owen Wyeth and the groomsmen were Messrs David Young, Eric Holmwood and Hector Miller. Messrs J. J. Payton and J. Lochore were ushers at the church.
The reception was held at “Brookfield,” the home of the bride’s parents, where a number of guests were entertained. Mrs Payton was attired in an Air Force blue frock with posy to tone and Mrs Wyeth wore black georgette and lace with a matching posy. When Mr and Mrs N. Wyeth left by car for the north, the bride travelled in a powder blue frock with hat and coat to match with a shoulder spray of orchids. Their future home will be at Mount Bruce.
