PUBLIC NOTICES. — j— MARVELLOUS ALLEGORY THIS event concerns Russia, and goes 1 to show that some of her predominant people are descended from the same original stock as are the British, and therein is foretold the present help Britain is receiving from her. It is claimed that some of the Russians are descended from Banjamin, a son of Jacob, and the English Prayer Book declares the well-known fact that we are descended from the so-called Lost Ten Tribes. Following this evidence, the Scriptural story is amazing it is of Rachel, Jacob’s favourite wife—when she gave birth to Benjamin she called him “Ben-o-mi,” meaning “Son of My Sorrow,” but Jacob afterwards called him “Ben-ja-min,” meaning “son of my right hand,” or strength. Rachel died, and Jacob “set up a pillar on Rachel’s grave, that is the pillar upon Rachel’s grave unto this day.” Here we find strength born of sorrow. Keeping Benjamin in mind, read what was published in the “Dominion” of May 28, headed, “Treaty’s Lusty Infancy.” There the British Ambassador, Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, said (referring to M. Molotov as the father of this remarkable child): “We must all offer him praise for the vision and wisdom that went to the fathering, and for the acknowledgment itself, and all. of us, Russians, British and Americans, should take part in the thoughtful and careful nurturing of the child, who will be in time the father of things to the wellbeing of the freedom of the world.” Here as it were is a birthday party celebrating the birth of the AngloSoviet Treaty, and was not the naming of Benjamin, referred to above, a birthday event forecasting the future? The Russia of today was born in sorrow, the fearful Revolution, as Benjamin was, but from it has come strength, or “the son of my right hand,” as Jacob said. And later it was said of Benjamin: “Israel (now Britain) was to dwell in safety by him.” Has not Russia contributed more than any other country to Britain’s safety? Mr Churchill has been nurturing the child (Benjamin), supplying him with weapons of war. The above has been written to show that the distrust hitherto of Russia is not justified, but that she is a servant, or instrument, of the Almighty. And remember that a son of Benjamin was called “Rosh,” hence Russia. FRANK WHITE. FOR URGENT REPAIRS. EXIDE BATTERIES AND ACCESSORIES "CHAR” FOR GAS PRODUCERS IN STOCK. THOS.
